ENRICHMENT / TECH COURSES / 4-9 Year OLDS

4 - 6 YRS

ROBOTICS MINI

This course introduces your child to circuits and robot programming. In the process, students will understand concepts such as electricity, magnetism and forces. Students build on these concepts to construct simple circuits and robots.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 9am-10:30am

1hr & 30min trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

ROBOTICS MINI (BRIDGING COURSE)

The Robotics Mini course is intended to help students move to Robotics foundation 7-9 yrs. As such, the course is designed with teaching robotics construction and programming concepts as its priorities. In addition, students in this course are no longer given explicit instructions on construction and programming as they are expected to complete those task independently as a stepping stone to Robotics foundation courses. Students are taught using a problem based learning approach to design robots that can fulfil a set of specific objectives.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 9am-10:30am

1hr & 30min trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

ROBOTICS FOUNDATION

Introduce your child to robotics and simple programming. In this course, students will learn about kinematics via the use of Dash robots. Students will also be exposed to block programming to learn simple coding using loops and conditionals.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 9am-11am / Sun 1pm-3pm

2-hr trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

ROBOTICS ELECTIVE

Students who have already gone through the foundation of Robotics will be given opportunities to work on different spectrum of robotics projects using LEGO EV3 Mindstorms. In this class, students will be heavily involved in the discussions of important features of a robot. For example, in designing a crane, some of the important aspects of a crane is a stable base, a strong arm, and a motor. They will be guided through these educational discussions and they will construct the hardware themselves. Programming comes after construction and they are free to explore different combination of codes that will help them achieve their goal. The difficulties of projects are gradually increasing to promote students' creativity and understanding.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 11am-1pm / Sun 11am-1pm

2-hr trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

CODING FOUNDATION

Using Scratch, kids will learn to create games and animation using their favourite characters and self- written stories.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 1pm-3pm / Sun 1pm-3pm

2-hr trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

3D DESIGN & PRINTING FOUNDATION

This course introduces your child to the basics of 3D design and printing, using the Autodesk123 platform and Makerbot 3D printers. Students are introduced to basic geometric shapes and mathematical concepts, including measurements, ratios and circles.

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 1pm-3pm / Sun 1pm-3pm

2-hr trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960

3D DESIGN & PRINTING ELECTIVE

The theme chosen for 3D Design elective this term is Pokémon. For the first half of the course students will be given a series of challenges to design characters or items from the franchise. This will serve as a foundation to the second part of the course as students learn more about the character details, such as their facial expression, special body parts (wings, tails, etc). Using the knowledge and experience they gain from the first part of the course, students will then embark on a design project where they will create their very own Pokemon character

Term 1: Jan-Mar 2017

Sat 11am-1pm / Sun 11am-1pm

2-hr trial class = $40

12 weeks/term = $960
